CHULSOO'S WORLD
BEFORE YOU ENTER
Opening this door may forever alter the performance you imagined.
Here, you will find thoughts I never shared onstage.
They are not the definitive meaning of the work. But once you know them, you may never see the performance quite the same way again.
Still want to take a look?

Five Different People
There are five musicians onstage.
이현호 has practiced the music of gut rituals in Tongyeong. 김희영 studied haegeum through formal schooling. Both are grouped under traditional Korean music, but the worlds in which they learned and experienced music are different.
Ingyu Hwang studied in Canada, and I studied in the United States. 곽지웅 has continued his musical activities in Korea.
The three of us are grouped under jazz, but we are very different, too.
The ways we listen, the ways we play, and the time we have lived through are all different.
I find those differences interesting.
It is certainly interesting when traditional Korean music and jazz meet to create a new music. But I did not want anyone to lose what they already brought with them.
Standing on the same stage does not mean everyone has to become the same color.
