CHULSOO'S WORLD
BEFORE YOU ENTER
Opening this door may forever alter the performance you imagined.
Here, you will find thoughts I never shared onstage.
They are not the definitive meaning of the work. But once you know them, you may never see the performance quite the same way again.
Still want to take a look?

The Bari I Saw
While making BARI, I thought about the conditions given to human lives and the choices made within them.
We cannot choose the time or circumstances into which we are born.
The same must have been true for Osuhee.
There must have been many things in her life that she could do nothing about.
But I still wondered.
What choices had she made within those conditions?
Having the possibility of making a choice is different from having the freedom to actually make it.
That is why the question is not easy to answer.
But as I looked at Osuhee's life, I suddenly found myself looking back on my own.
I, too, have often said throughout my life, 'I had no choice.'
Sometimes there truly must have been no other way.
But was that true of every moment?
As I created Osuhee's story, I thought I was asking her questions.
Perhaps, from the beginning, I had been asking myself.
Was there really no other way?
Or did I want to believe there wasn't?
